If you are interested in having a cake made, I would love to hear from you. Please note: all cakes will need to be collected from our premises in South East London.
The prices given are baseline cost and would represent a very simple level of decorative detail. The average price for a single tier cake on my website with the sort of level of design detail you see there tends to be between £80 - £120 for a cake of 8–10 inches, particularly where multiple modelled elements are required.
Cake Portion Sizing Guide
It is best to cut a cake in grid form rather than triangular, as this results in neater cuts, and is easier to divide into even size pieces. Below is a portion guide for both round and square cakes. This guide can also be used to estimate novelty and sculptured cakes, as I would use standard round or square tins to bake the basic cake.
A standard cake is usually 3” deep, with 2 layers of filling. The number of portions listed are based on a standard portion size of 1”x 2” wide, 3” deep. Sponge cakes can have a slightly bigger portion size than a fruit cake as they are not so rich. If you would prefer bigger portions, please go for the next size up. If you would prefer a much larger cake for show but do not require as many portions, a polystyrene dummy could be used to make up the size.
